versace VE4495D 777/87 — straight-on frame with brand logo

An expressive Italian signature.

Versace

Eyewear at i2i Optometrists, Glasgow

Gianni Versace established his fashion house in 1978, building an identity associated with Italian glamour, confident colour and dramatic decoration. Those qualities remain important to its eyewear.

The Medusa emblem is among the most familiar of those signatures. Alongside Greek key references and prominent lettering, it connects eyewear with the decorative world of Versace clothing and accessories. The balance changes from model to model: some frames concentrate their ornament at the temples, while others use substantial fronts or metallic accents to create a more immediate statement.

Versace’s Medusa Biggie family also draws on music culture of the nineteen nineties. The house describes these optical frames and sunglasses through maxi, square and shield shapes, linked by their characteristic side emblem.

The pictured VE4495D offers a different expression of the collection, pairing an oval acetate shape with a yellow and brown Havana finish and dark grey lenses. It demonstrates that Versace eyewear is not confined to one imposing silhouette.
